Northern Powergrid primary / BSP / GSP
Major primary and grid-level substations; visible from map zoom 8.
Point markerNorthern Powergrid distribution substation
Local distribution-level assets; visible from map zoom 13. Neither marker implies spare connection capacity.
Point markerTwo separate layers use Northern Powergrid’s Substation Sites List: major sites (Grid Supply Points, Bulk Supply Points and Primary substations) and distribution substations. Selecting a marker exposes the available site attributes.
Information may include the station name, primary voltage, station type, transformer rating, reported firm capacity, supplying upstream substation and geographical reference. Provider redactions for very small customer groups are preserved.
The detailed distribution layer requires map zoom 13 or higher; the major-sites layer starts at zoom 8. Very dense viewports have a 1,000-record display cap, with a warning to zoom closer.
Public substation and capacity information helps early stage project screening, network planning and comparisons between candidate locations.
The network operator’s data cannot guarantee the available connection headroom, reserved capacity, point of connection or construction feasibility.
Use the data for preliminary network context and request a current connection assessment from Northern Powergrid before committing to site designs or commercial assumptions.

No. Maplify uses the provider’s open Substation Sites List records API directly without a subscription.
Detailed distribution assets only load at zoom 13 or higher to avoid an incomplete overview of tens of thousands of records.
